We strongly advocate for the installation of our kits and components to be conducted by qualified mechanics. Incorrect installation could result in suboptimal performance or potential damage to your vehicle. It should be noted that, barring exceptions listed on specific product pages, our parts are provided without installation guides. Our products are intended for individuals who possess a comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems.

It often requires the replacement of various diesel parts, including the DPF system itself. The good news is that you can get aftermarket DPF systems that work much better than factory Ford Powerstroke parts. Even though the 6.4-liter was developed with a major increase in power over the previous engine, it lacked decent fuel economy. The main culprit here is the diesel particulate filter. The solution to this common problem is to replace the factory radiator with better quality 6.4 Powerstroke aftermarket parts like an aluminum 6.4-liter Powerstroke radiator. However, it was eventually found to have its own array of problems.

Why you need BD Diesel's 6.4L Up-pipesSome of these problems can be quite costly, but others can be fixed fairly easily by replacing factory parts with higher-quality aftermarket diesel parts. The 6.4 Powerstroke engine was very short-lived in Ford trucks. It was the last diesel engine for Ford made by International. Its successor was the 6.7 Powerstroke, which was built by Ford in-house. When the 6.4 Powerstroke came out, it was considered an improvement over the 6.0 Powerstroke.

Factory up-pipes are prone to failure due to age and heat cycling causing leaking exhaust, slower turbo spool, as well as additional exhaust noise and soot buildup. Rudy's re-invented these up pipes to prevent any of the known factory issues. They are constructed of thick wall 304 stainless steel for added durability. The Rudy's HD up pipes also include heavy duty bellows that offer superior flex to the OEM bellows, which don't flex enough and cause stress that ultimately leads to permanent damage. Our up pipes also include a state-of-the-art support bracket that alleviates the common issue of the crossover tube breaking. Along with all of the other amazing features, these up pipes are designed to be 100% OEM replacement!

As a part of new emissions standards, the DPF substantially reduced emissions, but it also reduced fuel economy, and especially in city driving. There are a few 6.4 Powerstroke performance parts that can help you regain fuel economy. If you see a puddle of coolant underneath your 6.4 truck, it’s probably not a blown head gasket.

Just got this today and setting it up was so easy. I have ordered from another company but had to return twice but the quality of this product is amazing, screen is well lit, and it is an amazing tuner. Customer service was outstanding when I had questions about the product. Click below to find out about the outstanding benefits of using Archoil in your truck and why I recommend using it. Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) means that exhaust gas goes back and gets reintroduced into the intake and run through the engine and burnt one more time. It reduces the nasty stuff that comes out of the tailpipe. On the 6.7 the intake comes from the outside instead of the exhaust manifold on a 6.4. What happens is it passes through the EGR valve first so that the EGR valve is on the hot end which keeps the EGR valve on a 6.7 clean. But it goes through the one side of the EGR cooler and then out the other side so there is a cool side.

Generally speaking, it’s a good idea to replace all 6.4 powerstroke up pipes no egr pistons and any other worn parts while you’re in there. One cracked piston is not likely to be worth the cost or labor. The main headache here is that the 6.4 uses two coolers, so you have potentially two clogged coolers to figure out. The solution is to invest in a coolant filtration system to increase breakdown time and keep your coolers from clogging as often.
